Privacy Policy
Hueka is built so that your photos and personal data never leave your iPhone. This page explains in plain terms what that means.
1. The short version
- We do not collect your photos. Selfies you take in Hueka are analyzed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. They are not uploaded, transmitted, copied off-device, or shared with anyone.
- We do not collect personal information. Hueka does not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, or location.
- We do not run analytics on what you do in the app. No event tracking, no fingerprinting, no third-party advertising SDKs.
- Subscription status is managed by Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). Neither receives any of your photos. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device-generated identifier and Apple's subscription receipt — see §5 below.
2. What information is processed, and where
On your device only
- Photos you capture or choose from your photo library.
- Face, hair, and skin tone measurements derived from those photos.
- Your analysis result (color season, palette) and on-device preferences (onboarding state, last result).
All of the above is stored in app sandbox storage on your iPhone. Uninstalling the app removes it.
Not collected by us
- Name, email address, phone number, postal address.
- Photos, videos, or biometric templates.
- Contacts, calendar, location, microphone audio.
- Device identifiers like IDFA (we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we don't track you across apps or websites).
3. Camera and photo library permissions
Hueka asks for camera access so you can take selfies, and for photo library access so you can pick existing photos. These permissions are used only to load the image data into the on-device analysis pipeline. Permission can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings → Hueka.
4. Face data and Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.2(vi)
Hueka uses Apple's Vision framework (and a bundled on-device Core ML face-parsing model) to detect face landmarks and segment hair, skin, and eye regions from a photo you provide. We explicitly confirm the following, in line with Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.2(vi):
- Face, depth, and facial-mapping data are processed only on your device and only for the purpose of generating your personal color analysis and the virtual try-on overlays you see in the app.
- This data is never used for marketing, advertising, or use-based data mining — by us or by any third party.
- This data is never shared with third parties, including our subscription provider RevenueCat.
- No biometric template, embedding, or face-identification record is created or stored. No face identification or recognition is performed — Hueka does not attempt to recognize who you are.
What gets saved on your device and for how long
To let you revisit the Try-On screen without re-running the analysis every time, Hueka saves a small set of files inside its own sandbox on your iPhone:
- The JPEG of the best aligned selfie used for the analysis (so the Try-On overlays can re-render).
- A JSON snapshot of the face landmark points detected by Vision (eye corners, lip outline, brow, face contour). These are 2D coordinates, not a biometric template.
- Your color season, palette, and the LAB color values sampled from skin / hair / eye regions.
These files live only in the app's sandbox storage. They are not synced via iCloud and never uploaded. They remain until one of the following happens, all of which are under your control:
- You run a new analysis — the previous photo + landmarks are replaced.
- You uninstall Hueka — iOS removes the app sandbox immediately, deleting all of the above.
- You clear the saved result from within the app (where this option is offered).
5. Subscriptions (Apple App Store + RevenueCat)
Hueka Pro is a paid subscription handled by the Apple App Store. When you subscribe:
- Apple processes the payment and stores your purchase record. Apple's Privacy Policy applies to that transaction: apple.com/legal/privacy.
- RevenueCat, Inc. is our subscription infrastructure provider. The Hueka app sends RevenueCat a randomly-generated, anonymous app user ID together with the subscription receipt that Apple issues. This lets us tell whether you have an active subscription, restore purchases, and detect cancellations and refunds. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, photos, or any analysis data. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the App Store. See the Terms of Use for billing and renewal details.
6. Diagnostic data
Hueka does not include third-party crash reporting or analytics SDKs. If you have opted in to "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us aggregated, anonymous crash and performance reports through App Store Connect. These reports do not contain your photos or personal data.
7. Children
Hueka is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from children. The app's on-device design means we collect no personal data from anyone.
8. International users
Because Hueka processes everything on your device, there is no cross-border transfer of personal data. The only data that leaves your device for subscriptions (anonymous user ID + Apple receipt) is processed by Apple and RevenueCat, who operate globally and apply their own safeguards (see links in §5).
9. Your rights
You can:
- Stop using the app at any time.
- Uninstall Hueka, which deletes all on-device data immediately.
- Revoke camera/photo permissions in iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in App Store → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Request a refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, California, or another jurisdiction with statutory privacy rights, you can contact us (see §10) to exercise any rights that apply to you. Because we do not collect personal data, most requests will be answered confirming that we do not hold any data about you.
10. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy we will update the Effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users in-app or at the next app update. Continued use of Hueka after a change means you accept the updated policy.
